Listen to Luke 24:28-43, John 20:19-31
The Disciples’ Eyes Opened
28Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and (A)He [a]indicated that He would have gone farther. 29But (B)they constrained Him, saying, (C)“Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them.
30Now it came to pass, as (D)He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. 31Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.
32And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?” 33So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, 34saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and (E)has appeared to Simon!” 35And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was [b]known to them in the breaking of bread.
Jesus Appears to His Disciples(F)
36(G)Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” 37But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen (H)a spirit. 38And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. (I)Handle Me and see, for a (J)spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”
40[c]When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41But while they still did not believe (K)for joy, and marveled, He said to them, (L)“Have you any food here?” 42So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish [d]and some honeycomb. 43(M)And He took it and ate in their presence.

The Apostles Commissioned(A)
19(B)Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were [a]assembled, for (C)fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, (D)“Peace be with you.” 20When He had said this, He (E)showed them His hands and His side. (F)Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
21So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! (G)As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23(H)If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
Seeing and Believing
24Now Thomas, (I)called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”
So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”
26And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!” 27Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and (J)reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be (K)unbelieving, but believing.”
28And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
29Jesus said to him, [b]“Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. (L)Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
That You May Believe
30And (M)truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31(N)but these are written that (O)you may believe that Jesus (P)is the Christ, the Son of God, (Q)and that believing you may have life in His name.
