I'm 14 weeks and 5 days and I could not hear it on my home fetal doppler so I panicked and went to see my midwife and she found it immediately. That being said, it was not loud at all and actually sounded slower than what you hear on YouTube videos. She actually suggested I wait until 20 weeks to use my at home doppler. She also used her handheld ultrasound machine and baby was great. all that to say, don't panick, I could not find it on my own and I'm a few weeks ahead of you and even when my midwife did it on the expensive machine, it was hard to hear.

My midwife advised against them as she’d rather hear from me 100x a week than have me rely on a Doppler and assume all is good if I have concerns. My midwife didn’t even use a Doppler at appts until 13+ weeks because baby is still super tiny and hard to find at that point. Since at home Dopplers aren’t nearly as strong as medical grade Dopplers, I’d wait until you’re a little farther along, like after 20 weeks.
